Carmilla

I really like Carmilla so far. It is so much different than any other vampire story we have read because it is a female vampire. This is going to make the story much more feminine. Most vampire stories are males, or  on the rare Twilight occasion it is a family. However, even in the family it is concentrated mostly on Edward and Carlisle so again it is mostly male. A female vampire is an interesting new side that we have not yet focused on.

Breaking Dawn vs. The Vampyre

Yesterday I was in the Houston airport writing my the last half of my paper and I was honestly surprised at how similar the writing styles are even though there are so many years apart. I know that I picked my writing topics beforehand but I did not actually realize how similar they truly were until I started writing. I really enjoyed finding those little things that are similar.

Poetry vs. Stories

Today in class we talked about liking or disliking poetry. I personally dislike poetry, very strongly. The only poetry I can stand and enjoy is children's poetry like Shel Silverstein poems. Things like that are adorable. However, complicated adult poetry, such as Emily Dickinson, I find it a waste of time because usually when you read poetry you have to interpret it, possibly still not completely understanding it, and then write a paper on it. I much prefer reading a story or novel because on those types of things I am very good at reading comprehension and writing a paper when I understand something is very easy for me.
